The L&K Group plc was formed in April 2005 when the businesses of Kendal and District Auction Mart plc merged with Lancaster Farmers’ Auction Company Limited. The benefits of merging two long-standing competitors could be felt almost immediately. Economies of scale and the ability to share experienced staff between the two centres soon proved advantageous to the company both financially and from a customer service perspective. The company has approximately 50 full and part-time staff and 900 shareholders and is an unlisted public limited company.  Shares are sold from time to time by auction or private sale. To be kept informed of forthcoming sales, both as an existing shareholder or future investor, simply email us with your details at info@landkgroup.co.uk

L&K Group Plc owns the two auction mart sites in Lancaster and Kendal as well as investment properties including two commercial properties in Kendal and some land situated adjacent to the A590 near J36 of the M6 motorway. Several agricultural-related private businesses lease premises within the auction mart sites, providing clients with easy access to related services.

The two auction marts are operated by North West Auctions Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of L&K Group, and sales of prime, store and breeding livestock are held at both marts throughout the year. For full details of all our sales click here. The livestock department also operates regular machinery and dispersal sales at both marts or on clients’ premises. The extensive investment in, and use of, new technology and modern computer equipment allows sales to be held conveniently anywhere on or off the auction sites.

The group’s Fine Art & Furniture auctioneers and valuers, trading as Kendal Auction Rooms, are based within the main auction complex in Kendal in newly-refurbished premises just off Sandylands Road. Regular traditional and specialist catalogued sales of antiques and collectables are conducted throughout the year.

Other services offered by the saleroom include valuations for probate, insurance and division and a house clearance service including disposal of unsaleable items where appropriate.

In early 2006 North West Auctions recognised the huge impact that regulation would have on its agricultural clients. The new single farm payment regime and environmental and compliance issues were about to impact severely on our core customer base so, being ideally placed to help farmers and landowners alike, we set up Farm Advisory Services. FAS has already helped many customers with single farm payment issues, form-filling, compliance advice and environmental schemes.

With our advice, many farmers have been able to make the most of the new regulations. All farmers and landowners will benefit from speaking to FAS, on site or at our offices. Click here for more information and follow the link to the Farm Advisory Services page.
